New Years Eve!!

Happy New Year's Eve!! I hope that everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday.

Our Christmas

On Christmas Eve Breezy and Haylie made about a hundred cookies. They only picked out two for Santa and over the next 2 days all of the cookies disappeared. It wouldn't be Christmas without a huge tray of cookies. Grandpa and Uncle Charles arrived on Christmas eve afternoon and the girls were just so excited. As the day went on we all decided to order Tai food which was great and then calm down. After a bath Breezy and Haylie opened one Christmas Eve gift and couldn't wait for the morning to come.Breezy made a last minute Christmas wish "Dear Santa...oh please oh please bring me my Biscuit" and they were off to bed.

Now I must be the luckiest momma in the world because when I woke up at 7:00 I was sure the girls had already been in to the gifts. Much to my surprise they had never even woken up. So 8:00 came still sleeping.....9:00...9:15 finally they come running so excited out of the room to find all of the goodies Santa left. There were tons of gifts and the girls were so happy to have received exactly what the wanted including a wii & games and Biscuit my loving pup.

After the gift extravaganza we ended up out at the pond fishing. The girls caught a few fish and returned to their toys but Nate & Uncle Charles spent a good part of the day after the big one. We had a yummy chicken lettuce wraps and potstickers for dinner. And just vegged out for the rest of the day new toys and funny movies. It was a great Christmas

We are back!!

Well after a wonderful trip to Greenville South Carolina we are home and rushing to finish all the final Christmas touches. Breezy just fell asleep on her vest. I'll be back in a few to add some photos and stories about our trip :) I hope everyone is ready for Christmas Eve!!

I'm going to be an Aunt again!!

I got some very exciting news from Nate's sister Meagan....she's having a baby!! I'm so excited for her it's her first. And my first experience being an Aunt to a newborn. My beautiful niece Lauryn was 7 when I joined the family. So here is the first photo of my future niece/nephew baby Ayala due August 15 ,2009.

I have many beautiful expecting women in my life Meagan, Liz, Kara and Faith. And I'm so excited for all of them.I can't wait to spoil the little babies. I love my Breezy so much and I know how much joy these babies will bring. Oh babies I love you and I'll be the coolest Aunt Jessie :)

I can't help but feel a little sad, after Breezy was born I had no desire for more babies and I'm not sure that I ever will. But now I feel as if Nate and I can't have another baby due to the chance of CF reoccurring. I'm not sure if I could chance another baby having to go thought all that my Breezy does. And with the thought of never being able to have a baby on my terms...kinda sucks. Which brings me to your opinion....did you or would you have another child after your child was diagnosed?

Grrrrrrr.....

Just a little frustrated with Breezy's pharmacy today. I live about an hour away form her CF clinic and the pharmacy and usually they mail her prescriptions to me with no problem. But I guess when I refilled her Tobi scrip they forgot the part where I asked if they could mail it. I expected to have it by now so when I called today and they told me her Tobi had been sitting in their fridge for a few days I couldn't help but get a bit upset. I was very nice to the pharmacy tech but man did I vent to myself...lol and now you :) I feel better and I got the problem resolved but I guess I felt as thought everyone should be on top of her CF treatments. But lesson learned call, call, call make sure the mail it.

Palm Tree Painting

Breezy continues to amaze me with her painting skills. I say skill because at 4 she blends and mixes paint like the best of them. This one is called "Hawaii" she made it for my mom and grandmother who are currently in Hawaii :) I hope you enjoy it.

CF Update

We have been having the hardest time trying to teach Breezy how to spit up all of the mucus. She generally just swallows it and occasionally it gives her a tummy ache. But eureka yesterday she spit some out. It was great you would have thought this kid just won the lotto with all of the cheering and clapping I did. But I really felt as if it was a milestone in her treatment process.

We are waiting on her tobi delivery form the pharmacy so that she can start back up this month. I'm not sure if your children enjoy tobi but its the only nebulizer that Breezy has a problem with doing. She can't stand that it makes her cough.

The results for her sleep study came back. The doctors say that she does not have a breathing obstruction. So that is a good thing, but they want to do another sleep study in 5-6 months because while she is sleeping her breathing goes so shallow that she pauses breathing.

Her treatments are going well and besides a upper respiratory infection she has been relatively healthy this month. Her father and I are still in the I'm not sure what is CF stage. Like when Breezy got a fever, coughing and shallow breathing this month. I had already taken her to the doctors when her fever jumped so i called Nemours at 10:00 at night. I told the doctors she had a fever and she replied "Did you try Tylenol?" I felt like a dummy. My daughter is a newly diagnosed CF patient and that is scary. For some reason all logic goes out the door when I think she is breathing funny.Hopefully I'll get the hang of when to worry and when to reach for the Tylenol.

Rain Rain Go Away....

Breezy sang on the way to school. It has been raining all day, the kind of day you stay in bed for. But not Breezy she loves school and her friends way to much to sleep in too late. So right now she is at school and I'm wishing she were not because that means i have to go pick her up. The bottom of my pants are soaking because we live in Florida and I only own flip flops so when I go out in rain the bottom of my pants dance in the puddles. And I can feel the wetness so I'm slightly grumpy as I return home to do some laundry.

But in the mean time in an attempt to cheer myself up I took a look back in time. Old photos have a way of bringing back great feelings. After all they are a stamp in time. I love photographs because no matter what that moment will never happen again.

This one cracks me up -It's so Breezy!!
And this One is a true mother-daughter moment. Too Funny!
Breezy and I look so mad, I wonder what it was about.

Santa Please...

Breezy's docs say no animals, but she wants to be a vet. She is always trying to talk me in to buying her a pet. If you don't already know Breezy is smarter than the doctors...lol And this time she has figured out the answer to the not pet problem."Biscuit my loving pup, batteries not included" She says. Were hoping that Santa delivers Biscuit on Christmas Day.

Where does she get this stuff?

Breezy walked in to the room with great worry on her face. She began to tell me about a dream she had.

Breezy-"I had a terrible dream"
Mom- "Oh no Breezy, what happened"
Breezy- "I was in a wheel chair forever and ever."
Mom-"I'm sorry that sounds sad."
Breezy- "Mom that is not the bad part.....there were no RAMPS ONLY STAIRS!!! So Grandpa had to push me up thirty-forty-million stairs"

I'm not sure where she comes up with some of this stuff. We talked a while about how there should be ramps everywhere so that people in wheelchairs can get where they need to go.

The art of Breezy

I thought i might share a bit of Breezy sunshine with you. She loves to paint and create. Here is some of her work :)

Im New at this...

Breezy has been congested for a couple of days.I'm so new at being the mother and caregiver to a CF patient that I'm not sure when to worry. But I took her to the hospital today and her chest x-ray came back clear. So they sent us home with a new nebulizer and told us to monitor her. When we got back home she seemed fine for a while until we gave her cipro, she took it like a champ but 5 minutes later came an endless stream of green olive and grape juice vomit.

After a wonderful clean up project and a bath she is feeling much better. I can't be sure if she vomited from the cipro or from the large amount of mucus she has been swallowing. I hope that tomorrow is better because I can't stand her being sick. I feel so helpless. What can i do?

The only thing that can make a difference is just be her mommy..teach her all of the wonderful thing this world has to offer. The funny thing is that at 4 years old Breezy seems to have a handle on things much better than I do :)

Carleton University Update

Here are a couple of blurbs about the final decision at Carleton University.

"Carleton University students will continue to raise money for cystic fibrosis research after student councillors held an emergency meeting Monday night and reversed a controversial motion that passed last week."

"Two of the councillors involved in drawing up and approving the motion resigned their seats at the boisterous meeting Monday."

I'm so happy that this has finally been resolved. My problem was not with the University trying to spread the wealth among other worthy causes, but the ignorance the students displayed in doing so. I hope that this has over all raised awareness for our cause and educated people on the facts of CF.

Today's Discoveries

An article in the Ottawa Citizen states that Carleton University students will vote tonight to re-examine the motion that cancelled the annual charity drive which supported cystic fibrosis. There is also a petition to impeach the association's president and also the author of the original motion. On a more inspirational note I read about Clare Webster a CF patient who finished a half marathon in Seattle, WA. Click Here to read.
